How Long to Cook Vegetable Soup
Vegetable soup can be cooked in as little as 45 minutes on the stovetop. There are a few steps to cooking a homemade vegetable soup. You'll first Sautee aromatics like onions, carrots, and celery for about 4 to 5 minutes. Once that's finished broth, other vegetables, and options like pasta or rice can be added. The soup will need to cook long enough to soften any pasta and other vegetables like carrots and potatoes. It will take about 25-30 minutes for the soup to cook at that point. In one of our favorite vegetable soup recipes, it's recommended to season with rosemary, sage, and thyme. Ditalini pasta, kidney beans, potatoes, spinach, peas, corns, and green beans are also added.
