How Long to Cook Edamame
It only takes a few minutes to cook edamame, no matter which way you make these delicious, healthy beans. They can be boiled, steamed, microwaved, or pan-seared.
- Steaming edamame takes about 10 minutes with the beans still in the pods.
- Microwave them in a container or steam bag for about 3 minutes.
- Chefs can boil edamame quickly, too. It only takes about 5 minutes for the pods to become tender and bright green.
- Pan-searing isn't as popular of a method, but it's tasty. Cook the edamame pods until they become charred. Pan-searing usually only takes around 5 minutes, like boiling does.
