How Long to Boil Turnips
It takes about 20 minutes to boil turnips. Turnips are a dense root vegetable that can be mashed and added to soups and stews, and boiling is one of the most common ways to cook them. Be sure to trim roots and other detritus off of the turnips before boiling them, but don't peel off the skin: It's packed with nutrients and adds flavor to the dish. Once they're fork-tender, turnips are delicious with butter and lightly salted. Breadcrumbs and garlic also make great additions to turnips.
