How Long to Cook Baked Potatoes in Foil

How long it takes to cook foil-wrapped potatoes depends on the appliance you're using to cook them. When you wrap potatoes in foil, the foil traps moisture and steams the potato as it cooks, preventing it from drying out. This is most commonly seen when cooking a baked potato either on a grill or in an oven.

Note: If you don’t have aluminum foil on hand, you can still bake potatoes in the oven; you may just need a slightly lower temperature.
