How Long Do You Cook Corned Beef?
How long to cook corned beef depends on what cooking method you prefer: Cook times can range from around an hour to 10 hours. It's definitely not quick, but it's worth the wait: Corned beef tastes best when it's cooked at a low temperature for a long time. Our favorite corned beef recipe makes the wait easier by using a slow cooker, but you can also cook corned beef in a pot on the stove, in the oven, or even in a pressure cooker.
- In the Oven: 1 hour per pound at 200 degrees Fahrenheit
- On the Stove: 40 to 50 minutes per pound at a low simmer
- In a Slow Cooker: 8 to 10 hours on low heat
- In a Pressure Cooker: 70 minutes plus 15 minutes of natural release
The best way to determine that your corned beef is fully cooked is to use a meat thermometer; when it reads that the internal temperature is 145 degrees Fahrenheit, then it's safe to eat. At this point, your corned beef should also be easy to pierce or cut with a fork.
