How Long to Cook Soft-Boiled Eggs
To soft-boil eggs, you'll want to cook them for 6½ minutes in boiling water over medium-high heat. Unlike hard-boiled eggs, which are started in cold water, you'll want to wait until the water reaches a full boil before lowering in the eggs. Once you remove them from the water, immediately put them into an ice bath to stop the cooking process. This ensures that the yolks will still have a soft, jam-like consistency. Soft-boiled eggs are incredibly quick to cook and make perfect additions to several different dishes, such as salads or ramen. Of course, they're also great for breakfast all on their own or maybe with some toast on the side.
