How Long to Cook Uncured Hot Dogs
Determining how long to cook uncured hot dogs requires the same method as cured hot dogs. Though uncured hot dogs don't contain any artificial preservatives, they still come fully cooked and you can prepare them the same way you would cured hot dogs.
For grilling, you should cook your hot dogs on a medium-low heat setting. Depending on the thickness of your particular hot dogs, they may take anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes to fully cook through. To make sure that they're done cooking, you can use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Hot dogs are considered done when the internal temperature reaches 140F degrees.
Another option for cooking uncured hot dogs is to boil them. Bring a pot of water to boil and then add your hot dogs. They should take approximately 4-6 minutes to fully cook depending on their size. Just as with grilling, you can use a meat thermometer to take the internal temperature of the hot dogs to ensure they're done.
