What's the Safe Internal Temperature for a Veal Chop?
When done, a veal chop should have an internal temperature of at least 145 degrees. However, like beef, veal can be served at a variety of temperatures depending on how done you like it. But since veal is a lot more expensive than beef, it's important to keep an eye on its temperature and make sure that you don't overcook it.
The internal temperatures for the different levels of veal chop doneness are:
- Medium-Rare: 145 degrees
- Medium: 160 degrees
- Medium-Well: 165 degrees
- Well-Done: 170 degrees
Note that it's not considered safe to eat rare veal: A properly cooked veal chop should be at least medium-rare.
