What's the Best Internal Temperature for Chicken Drumsticks?
The USDA states that every part of the chicken is safe to eat when the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees. However, you'll find that the meat has a much better flavor and texture if you cook it to 175 degrees. This is because chicken drumsticks are dark meat and dark meat benefits from being cooked to a higher temperature. But no matter what temperature you choose to use, you can check the doneness of your drumsticks by using a meat thermometer, taking care not to hit the bone.
