How Long to Boil Chickpeas
There are a few different ways to cook chickpeas (also called garbanzo beans), but one of the most reliable methods is boiling them. It takes between 20 and 45 minutes to boil chickpeas, but before you can start boiling them, you need to soak them. Cover your chickpeas in water and allow them to soak for at least 8 hours. Then, once your chickpeas have soaked, drain them and then move them into a sauce pan and cover them with about 2 inches of water. Add in any desired ingredients, and then bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat and allow them to simmer for 20-25 minutes for a firmer texture or 40-45 minutes for softer chickpeas.
